Why Pray for Guidance in Choosing a Mate?

I am a deeply committed Christian, and I think you should ALWAYS pray about everything, especially something as life changing as who to marry. I completely agree with wifey. You CAN go out and look yourself, and ask God to guide you as you look. The bible says that's the man's job. In Proverbs it says "He who finds a wife, finds a good thing, and obtains favor with the Lord." - for the woman, it's her role typically to ask God to send the right man to find her, and then be patient and wait. However, I also know that as a woman, I have to get out there, be available, be open, and be socail. How's he going to find me if I stay at home with my pillow and chips on the couch!! Be open. Ask God for help and guidance with everything in the process, and also be sure that you ask Him to make you the right person for who He has in mind for you.
