When starting a business on ebay....?

say I wanted to sell sports things...like jerseys and hate and tailgating stuff...where do I get the stuff to sell to begin with? Like wholesalers or what? or do i have to become a licensed dealer from the NFL? this is for a school project and I don't know where to start!!! Help!
