Goth meta/rock (the good music)?

You can always take it back to where the whole genre started and try listening to some Bauhaus, The Cure (Robert Smith is a god), Siouxsie and the Banshees and Sisters of Mercy. Nightwish is symphonic metal, so if you're not really into the dramatic, opera-sounding stuff, then you probably won't like them. Although, since Tarja left the band and was replaced by some other chick (can't remember her name) I actually like their new sound better - Dark Pion Play is a great album. If you like industrial rock, try some Nine Inch Nails, especially the older albums like Pretty Hate Machine. Also, Type O Negative is my favorite band ever - if you want a strong loud voice, then Peter Steele (RIP) will blow you away!
