Why do I have such a dark facial appearance?

Well, to make this simple I will explain quickly what I mean. My eyes have this kind of sinister look even when I am happy and it really annoys me because I don't want people to think I am. I have tried eye liner as well as mascara but I still have the same kind of 'evil' look.... does anyone have a solution for more innocent looking eyes?
