How do i play guitar?

I used to play guitar so i have some sort of background, and i also play guitar hero on expert which would make my fingers more flexible thus making it easier to play a real guitar, correct? Ok here is the main thing...i haven't played in a while and once i started playing guitar hero i wanted to play again so ive been messing around and playing on air guitar and stuff lol. I don't want to just practice for days on end then finally start playing, i wana just like jump right in and start playing it....if anyone knows a good site where to get rifts for artists like...Slipknot...Metallica...In the flames...The Hives....If anyone knows any good site were to get rifts for those songs please tell me, or if you know any good bands that a novice can play easily...Also can anybody tell me what the cords are and how to play (what i mean is basically what frets i have to hold down). One last thing, i need a new E string (high) cause it broke off how can i fix that, and as you can imagine my guitar is horribly untuned so ima need someone to tell me how to tune it again...BTW its an electric guitar, if you need anymore info, like a pic of it or something let me know and ill put it up asap
